Seek Answers Together
o If you and your child decide to learn fishing or pottery making, visit a fish hatchery or a pottery shop. Create a list of questions together that you want to ask the experts.
Teach Passion for Learning
o If a certain play is opening in your town, have your child research the characters and plot beforehand. Study the programmel together before the curtain opens. Ask your child to locate online articles about the play's author.
Focus on Reading and Writing
o Make a list of good books your child would enjoy. Reward your child for reading each one. Ask your child to write a short profile on a favourite character in each book.
Help Your Child Delve Deeper
o Have your child pretend he or she is producing a movie. Ask your child to make lists of all of the tasks involved in writing a script, finding actors, filming on location and getting the movie done on time.
Go on Learning Trips
o Occasionally visit a museum with your child. Ask your child to make notes about his favourite exhibit. Buy or borrow your child a book on the subject matter of this exhibit.
